The 12th ENCLE Conference will be organised together with the International Journal of Clinical Legal Education (IJCLE) at University of Edinburgh's Law School in Edinburgh, UK

The Conference is scheduled from the 15th to 16th June, 2026. As always, this will be designed to facilitate as much participation and engagement by those attending. While there will be a small number of plenary sessions, including a few keynote speeches, most of the conference will consist of parallel interactive sessions/workshops, paper presentation or lightning talks, providing many opportunities for delegates to share ideas, experiences, teaching methods and materials. The structure of the Conference prioritizes sessions that make use of interactive methods.

Session proposals will be reviewed by the Conference Program Team. Important considerations for proposal review are the sessions' relevance to justice education and geographical diversity amongst presenters.  We encourage session proposals from groups representing different countries. Session proposals should be submitted online using the Proposal Submission Form below.

DEADLINE: 31 January 2026

Summary of Process for taking part

Session proposals should be submitted online through the Proposal Submission Form

We encourage early submissions, as this helps not only the organisers to create an engaging program, it also helps presenters to receive early feedback on their proposals and then eventually to apply timely for possible funding that will allow them to attend the conference.

Lead Presenter

Where there is more than one presenter, we require that a “Lead Presenter” submit the proposal. That person, unless changed, becomes the point of contact for the presentation throughout the stage of proposal review, decision, scheduling, and questions and logistical information for the conference.

Limitation

For logistical reasons, participants can only be involved in a maximum of two session proposals.

Content of the proposal

The Online Proposal Submission Form will ask the following information:

  • Full name (as written in the passport) and contact details (email) of lead presenter
  • Organisation/affiliation of lead presenter
  • Professional title/position of lead presenter
  • Country of lead presenter
  • Name(s) and details (affiliation, email address) of any other presenters
  • Title of the session proposal
  • Abstract of session proposal (which should include information about the session’s objectives, how interactive methods will be used, relevance to conference theme, short information about the presenter(s) and their relation to legal education/CLE; max 400 words)
  • Summary of the session proposal (for conference website; max 100 words)
  • Presentation format
    • Lightning Talk
    • Paper Presentation
    • Interactive Workshop

Formats

Presentations can take one of three formats, each with its own structure:

  • Lightning Talks
    • These short presentations are designed to allow presenters to share an idea or a problem and seek feedback.  We anticipate each presentation will consist of short introduction to new work, methodological innovations or insights from the field. Each presentation should last no more than 10 minutes.
  • Paper presentation
    • These will be in traditional conference paper format with a twenty-minute presentation followed by questions linked to clinical legal education/justice education in general, such as indicated by the non-exhaustive list of themes above.
  • Interactive workshop
    • For the interactive workshops, we seek proposals from teams of justice educators or students, who are interested in organising a 45min or 90min interactive workshop on a relevant topic linked to clinical legal education/justice education in general, such as indicated by the non-exhaustive list of themes above.

Proposals are reviewed by the Conference Team. Relevance to clinical legal education/justice education and geographic diversity among presenters are important criteria in the proposal review. We encourage session proposals from international teams.
